Let’s be honest. The world needs another white guy writing a blog as much as it needs another US President like Donald Trump, or a lunatic like Putin who invades countries because he needs a summer home. Not.

So before we start going down this rabbit hole let me be very clear to avoid any current of future misunderstandings.

I am starting this blog because I am opinionated. I need to get it out of my system. I will try to be fair but this is about me, not you. If you happen to agree with me, awesome. If not, that is also ok.

Cool, great, let’s get this show on the road.

I read a lot of news and opinion pieces from South Africa as well as things that interest me from abroad. I have opinions and I like to share and discuss them, with myself mostly. But in all honesty, I have a problem with the fucking bullshit way the media is pushing content to us.

Aside from that, I have a problem with how we as a modern digital world gets censored online. Mostly on social media like Facebook and Twitter. If someone doesn’t like your posting, or if enough people don’t, it gets removed after being reported. I get it, you need guidelines and community policies. To a large extend they are great, but they are also weak in the sense were the majority of people only see what the group admin or editor decides is good for their audience.

I get and respect that and I can live with it.

I have had a few instances over the years where I provided an alternative view to an argument, only to have it removed. What bothered me about the removal action was not the fact that I was silenced. It was the feeling that we aren’t allowed to air opinions and have a mature discussion with different points of view. That really got to me.

I might be wrong. Shocking, I know…

Opinions, counter arguments, commentary and the like, are important to me as it should be to you. We live in an age where one of the popular weapons governments have is to call “alternative views”, false or misinformation campaigns. Well my argument is that if we lived in a transparent world where we actually trust all sources of information and the data, we would not have this problem.

The Covid-19 pandemic is a great example. I am struggling to understand how you get one group of doctors who support the use of Ivermectin as part of a treatment plan and the other group being against it. Did they not all study medicine?

Now the one side is getting slammed and it is called false information that the public should not spread. Yet the public, you and I, go onto social media and some report it did work for them. Others just assume those people are idiots and report it as false news. All of a sudden we get monitored and reported and blah blah blah.

FFS! Some of us might be wrong but some might be right.

I want to live in a world where the doctor who is against Ivermectin, goes to the guy who claimed it worked and asks if they can have a conversation about it. Run some tests and see if they can determine why that person claims it worked for him. Would it really hurt?

Not another white guy blog

In summary. This is not going to be a white guy blog filled with anger about how the word really works or how it should work.

But I have an opinion and I love blogging. I love having conversations. I hope you enjoy this and if you don’t agree with what I post then engage and share your view.

The worst thing that can happen is that you end up being wrong. The best thing that can happen is that I am wrong… and I learn from you. How fucking cool is that?
